Are you new to the club and looking to find new friends or just get to know some club memebers? We would love to see you there!

Club Meeting is Wednesday July 27th at 6:30. Please join us for a night of fun. Everyone is welcome including all of your kids. We would love for you to come and chat and help plan future activities. We will also be discussing if twins should be in the same class at school or not. We would love to hear your thoughts on this topic. We will be meeting at Rachel Howes in West Valley. Review: July's Play group at Chick- fil-a:

The kids had a blast playing in the sound proof play area at Chick-fil-a. It was fun to see all the different ages of kids playing together. The moms sat just outside the play area and could see what was going on inside. The biggest hit of the day was free ice cream cones donated by the restaurant .

We are going to try to meet once a month at a fast food joint with a play area. It is a very kicked back way to get together and give us mamas a chance to talk while the children are contained and happy to play. Do you have a suggestion of a place to meet? Review: Meeting for Expectant and Nursing Mothers of Multiples

We had a great turn-out for our meeting for expectant and nursing mothers of multiples on June 9th! The meeting was co-sponsored by La Leche League of Salt Lake City. Mothers with a wide variety of experiences shared their stories. We hope we can make this a more regular meeting!

One of the LLL leaders in attendance from the Provo/Orem group, Emily, provided the following Nursing Survival Station--

When you sit down to nurse, make sure you go to the bathroom first, and have the following within arm's reach:

- Baby
- Nursing pillow
- Burp rags
- Dipaers
- Wipes
- Nursing pads
- Nipple cream
- Water bottle
- Snack
- Remote control
- Phone
- Laptop computer
- Journal
- Notebook*
- Knitting/crafts
- Book
- Pen/pencil

*tip - use your notebook to write down things you think of while you're nursing, so you can relax, enjoy your babies and know you won't forget about them later. Also have a list of household tasks to assign to friends and family when they visit and ask what they can do to help.

Watch your baby - not the clock!
If you watch your baby you will learn their signals very quickly, and learn to meet their needs before they resort to crying to let you know they need something. Feeding the baby when they're hungry, and putting them to sleep when they're tired will help a baby eat better, sleep better, and be happier.

SLMOT June Family Picnic -- Saturday, June 12th

Update: We'll be there, rain or shine!! Make sure you RSVP if you plan to attend so that we can have enough supplies for everyone.

It’s our annual family picnic! Saturday, June 12th from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Constitution Park, 7000 S. 3200 West, West Jordan, UT (South Pavillion). Bring Grandma and Grandpa, and any friends with multiples who aren’t members of our club yet. We’ll have games for the kids, too! (Update: Due to the weather, the bounce house had to be cancelled.)

There is NO CHARGE to come! We are having a potluck picnic, so sign up to bring something through the Evite that was emailed to SLMOT members. If you're not a member and would like to attend, just send us a quick email at info@slmot.com so we can be sure to have enough supplies.

SLMOT 2010 Spring Super Sale Review

We are so pleased to have completed another successful Super Sale! The sale was held on Saturday, May 15th from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Reams in Sandy.

We need to especially thank our Super Sale organizers, Cindy and Natalie. They put in hours planning the sale, contacting sellers, advertising the sale, and making arrangements for the location and equipment. They make a great team.

We also want to thank all the volunteers from our club that came to help. We had lots of volunteers helping set up, monitor for shoplifters, cashiering, and answering questions.

And thank you to Melody and Stacy for providing yummy food for the bake sale.

Finally, thank you to our sellers without whom we wouldn’t have a sale! Many of our sellers doubled as volunteers and stayed for the entire sale.

This sale was our first with a new large-group format. All sellers combined items into designated areas for each type of item. Because this was our first time using this format, we have developed a survey to help us review participants’ experience. Please help by completing this survey:

Spring 2010 Super Sale: May 15, 2010

SLMOT's Spring Super Sale will be held Saturday, May 15th from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the parking lot of Ream's Food Store in Sandy. The organizers of this Spring's sale have lots of great ideas to make this the biggest and best Super Sale yet!

For this sale, all items will be sold in a combined selling area. Sellers will continue to tag their items and decide prices just as before. But this time, when they arrive at the Super Sale, sellers will display their items in a common area where we will have clothing racks, bookshelves, and tables.

This way, buyers will be able to consolidate their shopping. Shoppers looking for a specific item or size can go to one pre-labeled area and find all items that our sellers have in that category, instead of searching each seller's booth individually.

All the changes and upgrades for this year have been summarized in updated Sellers Guidelines. We hope that this change will turn our mass yard sale from previous years into a true Super Sale!

SLMOT January 2010 Play Group

We had a great turn-out for our January play group!

Those that were brave enough started out at the park for a wintery park day. Hot chocolate was served.

Then, we headed over to a pizza place for some pizza. There were about 40 people in all. Wow!!

We have the greatest moms on the planet in our club!

Enjoy some pictures from the SLMOT play group last month. We had originally planned to visit the elves at Gardner Village, but the weather didn't cooperate (15 degrees outside!!). So we made a last-minute change to Dino Towne Play Area at South Towne Center.

SLMOT board meetings are open to all members of our club. They are held the first Thursday of the month from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Email us for directions to our meeting location.

Here are ten great reasons to come:

Check books out of the SLMOT Lending Library.
Borrow clothes from the SLMOT Preemie Closet.
Pick up club brochures to take around your neighborhood (libraries, doctors’ offices, hospitals, etc.).
Get ideas and suggestions from other moms of twins that have “been there, done that”.
Provide input for upcoming play groups and moms’ nights out.
Find out about opportunities for helping other moms of twins.
Volunteer to help with club activities and projects.
Bring your kids and enjoy an evening “play group”.
Eat yummy food (bring a simple dish or treat to share).

Super Sale

We know how expensive it is to buy new for multiples or singletons—especially when they outgrow things long before they are worn out! The sale provides our members and the Salt Lake community with a great opportunity to pick up gently-used clothing, toys, equipment, supplies and furniture. It also provides an avenue for selling your children’s outgrown items, clearing out your storage spaces, and earning some cash!

Our next Super Sale will be held Saturday, September 11, 2010 in the parking lot of Ream’s Food Store at 8725 Highland Drive in Sandy.

The sale is open to MEMBERS ONLY from 8:00am until 8:30am, and then opens to the PUBLIC at 8:30am. The sale ends at 12:00pm.

Our Semi-Annual Super Sales are SLMOT’s biggest fundraisers. SLMOT provides all the advertising, reserves the location, and handles all financial transactions and in return receives 10% of the proceeds from each item sold at the Super Sales. Non-members interested in selling at one of our Super Sales must pre-register and pay a $5.00 fee. We accept cash only – no credit cards. Personal checks will only be accepted from club members. ALL SALES ARE FINAL.

Whatever age your multiple-birth children may be, we would love to have your participation in our club. When it comes down to it, only mothers of multiples know what it’s like and can provide the kind of support needed. We welcome all mothers of multiples in the Salt Lake, Davis, Tooele and Summit counties and any other part of Utah to be a part of our organization. We are a year-round organization. We have many activities throughout the year including the summer months.

Membership Dues

Dues are paid only once per year. (The SLMOT year is June through May.) We have adjusted the annual dues to a sliding-fee scale based on the month membership is initiated, so that everyone re-joins in June, regardless of when they first joined. Financial assistance is available!

National Organization of Mothers of Twins Clubs, Inc.
SLMOT is affiliated with the National Organization of Mothers of Twins Clubs, Inc. (NOMOTC), a support group for parents of twins and higher-order multiples. NOMOTC cooperates with researchers and doctors engaged in projects involving twins and/or their families to enhance quality of educational materials available to parents, teachers, and interested others.
Members of SLMOT have members-only access to the NOMOTC website.

Through NOMOTC, SLMOT can refer parents of higher-order multiples to other parents of higher-order multiples for support.

Socialization

The Salt Lake Mothers of Twins Club offers opportunities to socialize with other parents and families of multiples through family events and other activities.

Play groups
Socialize with other mothers or fathers of multiples and give your twin children the chance to have twin friends. Members volunteer to host play groups at a member’s home, or at a park or commercial location.

Play groups are not just for moms; dads and grandparents are invited, too! And play groups are great for moms of younger babies. It doesn't matter if your twins are old enough to play - come socialize with other moms. It might be the opportunity you've been looking for to "practice" taking them out in public. You'll have lots of support and understanding from the group. Expectant moms are welcome too!

Play groups are held the second or third Tuesday of each month and are listed on the calendar. Location and time will be announced in the current month’s newsletter.

Non-members are welcome, too! If you are not a member of the club, contact us for details about this month’s activity.

Parent Activities
Join us for monthly Moms’ Night Out and quarterly activities for couples! Babes in arms are welcome to attend.

Moms' Night Out is the fourth Tuesday of each month and are listed on the calendar. Location and time will be announced in the current month’s newsletter. Mom’s Night Out is replaced once a quarter by an activity for couples.

Non-members are welcome, too! If you are not a member of the club, contact us for details about this month’s activity.

Family Activities
Throughout the year, SLMOT sponsors various activities for families, such as a Halloween party, Sub-for-Santa service project, marching in the St. Patrick’s Day parade, and an annual picnic.
